Doc Watson with his late son Merle originally released these two albums on United Artists Records. These remastered for CD tracks showcase the timeless quality of Doc and Merle's music, as the performances are as vital today as when first presented. Doc played guitar, banjo and harmonica while Merle is featured on guitar, slide guitar and banjo. Joining them is long-time bass player and producer T. Michael Coleman. Other musicians of note include Johnny Gimble on fiddle and Chuck Cochran on piano. Doc won his third Grammy Award with "Big Sandy/Leather Britches" from "Live and Pickin'", honored for Best Country Instrumental Performance. A live version of perhaps Doc's most recognizable song, "Tennessee Stud" is part of this essential package. The bonus track studio version of "All I Have To Do Is Dream" was released only to radio and is available here for the first time to consumers making this package a must for any true Doc Watson collector.
